Hello all!
I would like to know the opinions of experienced LÖVE developers with regard to licenses. When you release your games, what copyright license do you prefer to use and why? This has been a subject of debate on the game I am currently developing. Personally I am someone who prefers to use the GPL, but other people working with me have concerns over how the GPL would allow others to turn around and resell our game. One idea was to license the code under the GPL and all of the assets like art and music under a more restrictive version of the Creative Commons license; this would be a situation similar to when id Software released the Quake code, you can get the code for free but not the assets.
Does this approach seem reasonable or am I over-thinking things? Are there are any important concerns I should consider? I would greatly appreciate any advice on the matter from developers who have released commercial LÖVE products.

Re: Game License
GPL might be considered overly board for images and sounds. It's really designed for 'source', as in source code. If you're going to be dotting your I's and crossing your T's, you'll want an explicit license for non-code assets, regardless of what code license your team chooses.
