I got some warnings from my friend Norton internet security saying that this website was recently 'comprised' and high risk, has anyone else gotten that? Know anything about it, or why that would happen?

Not from Norton (Norton is horrible bloatware, but that's another argument all together) but occasionally Chrome will warn people of content that is bad.

Don't worry too much. When it happens it's because a site someone might have an avatar, or possibly an image they're posting to show off their project, hosted on has been marked as damaging. There's really no way around it as people will post their images on these sites and not know they're bad and you never know which ones are going to be bad.

Just keep one thing in mind, when posting an image, if you don't use a well known image host, just use the forum's built-in attachment uploading. And when hosting your avatars, use something people know about. There's dozens of well-known image hosts. I recommend either Minus or Imgur.

Oh okay, it just occurred to me after posting that I'm not running Norton on this computer.

Well that makes a lot of sense, thanks, I was somewhat concerned about site hacking and/or script kiddie attacks on the site.

Usually just someone hosting their image on a site that happens to have content also hosted on it that was flagged. As for how harmful it could be, I don't know. I am on OS X and nothing has ever happened when I ignored the warning to not procede. When Chrome tells you it posts the URL of the site that is causing it. I usually end up looking at the source in the Webkit Inspector to see if I can figure out which user is causing it.

I haven't been getting it from Norton but Chrome did hit me with that message as I loaded up this page! Nice to know that it is more then likely caused by some minor issue unrelated to any online threat!
