Hey everybody !
I'd like to get your opinion on the graphics of a game prototype I'm working on: I have a pixel art version and a "kid's drawing" version and I wanted to know which one you prefer, and why? I specify that the game takes place in a universe where children's stories have been "corrupted" by evil, the graphics are therefore justified by the game universe, which is both childish and creepy;) If you have any general remarks on what you like / dislike or general feedback to share that interests me too! Thanks to those who will answer

I personally like the pixel art version. The other one looks too amateur-ish. Also, it's my understanding that child stories are rarely illustrated in a "kid's drawing" style.

Thanks for the feedback ! Yeah it’s actually more a game inside the imagination of children, that’s what I meant by « children story » (sorry if that was not clear, I’m French).

As much as I like pixel art in general, I like the bottom version better. The style is more unique.

I agree, i usually tend to dislike art that has this weird unexplainable flash-like sterility to it, however the bottom version imo could work since it has an unique style instead.

It's a Pick Your Poison situation.
The top is "just disturbing". The bottom is "just childish". I personally go with the bottom one since your intended audience are kids.

Both are not perfect, but I'd prefer the bottom one.. the pixel art isnt that great while the child drawing style is more unique and appealing.
