In case the video doesn't load, here's a link.
I've decided to develop a rather ambitious title here called Oakhill Chronicles. It's going to combine farming sim with side-scroller (they're going to be two separate-but-heavily-related engines), with a healthy heaping dose of story to help tie it all together. The planned scope is significant, probably more than is really wise for a single-person development "team" to tackle, but I don't like the idea of compromising when I have no limits besides those I put on myself.
That video showcases the progress made in the first 37 days of development (about 20 of those days the code base has been actively developed; the bulk of the graphical assets developed so far aren't showcased). Other than LOVE itself, all of the code is written by me with some help on occasion from others in understanding the concepts behind certain processes; I develop my own code from what I learn from their advice and examples.
I don't have a planned release date yet, but I do have a lot planned for the game's future! This is going to be an interesting year, that's for sure...

It looks nice.
Are you going to add little gardening helpers or other units?

That's not planned at the moment, no. There are going to be townspeople, of course, and monsters in the dungeons, but not really any plans for farmhands of any sort right now.

Here's the latest footage of development! Lighting, tilling, trenching, plant mortality, and the beginnings of the sidescrolling engine are this week's conquests.
