About mouse control: yeah, I'd agree it makes things easier. But at the same time I think it can raise the skill ceiling for Shmups.
I don't think my game is so hard as to take full advantage of mouse control but some feedback on difficulty could really help me reach that.
Mouse control is optional too, lower skilled players could use it to progress through the game (hopefully) without the need of different difficulty levels.
Perhaps mouse controlled game sessions should be in a different category for highscoring / completion?
