Tower Defense Prototype

Years ago I used LÖVE to create a prototype for a 2D tower defense game set in space. I was very impressed with how quickly I was able to test ideas and get something playable.
The code for that prototype has now been open sourced. I kept it updated with the changing API. I wanted to share it with the community in the hope that it helps somebody else out there. Here's the code: https://github.com/bdoms/love_defense
This was the very first thing I programmed in Lua so apologies for whatever amateur tendencies are a result of that. I'm sure I'd do things differently now. Fixes, suggestions, improvements, etc. are all welcome.
The project did go on to get released as an Xbox 360 Indie game called "Defend Earth or Die!" with all new assets and code in C#, but it wouldn't have happened without LÖVE being there in the beginning. If you're interested here are some links for that final version:
