Some sort of sailing ship game

Post by mr_happy »

I just started work on this (having had a couple of days learning Love/Lua and still making it up as I go along). It's about exploration, trading, fighting the elements (and maybe other ships) - I'm shooting for a simple coffee-break game with (softcore) roguelike tendencies :D

So far I've got randomly generated world maps with a nice spread of ports - you have to find 'em though - and basic ship controls. I plan to add weather (well wind at least), maybe even currents, encounters with stuff and ships at sea, trading, recruiting and repairing in ports, a simple morale system and perhaps land travel.

Sorry about the place-holder font, graphics and general crapness but you get the gist.

Great!

I think "Sid Meier's Pirates!" is one of the greatest games of all time and we definitely need more of that kind.
Hope you keep at it!

There are a ton of space games that seem to have been gaining in popularity lately, perhaps you can get some inspiration or ideas from them.

Looks very cool btw.
