Hi there. I'm developing a game using love2d but I'm pretty much stuck for now since I found out Windows 8 has some weird lag issue.
In the attached file, when running in windows 8, the movement freezes for some miliseconds. It's a really simple .love file and I don't believe this is supposed to ever happen. It moves normally for like 1 second then freezes a little and then repeats the same thing all over the running.
I ran the same file on Mac OSX and on a Windows 7 PC, and it works smoothly on both. I already updated all the my drivers but the issue persists.
Is there any solution for that?
Thanks!

Re: Odd lag in Windows 8/8.1
Yes for some reason when in löve2D with the normal love.run the games run 500FPS and under for some reason on windows 8. I found this out too when I switched to windows 8 for core optimizing. Ended up getting less frames. No clue why, be nice if someone looked into it cause I think it's a Löve issue.

Running Windows 8.1 I do not get that issue with your .love. It could be related to your graphics drivers, an antivirus program, or some other external factor.

It runs at 60 FPS just fine on my Windows 8.1 computer.
My game called Hat Cat and the Obvious Crimes Against the Fundamental Laws of Physics is out now!

Running 60 fps with no problems on Windows 8, without the 8.1 update.
Re: Odd lag in Windows 8/8.1
Thank you for the answers until now. For me it runs normally at 60 fps too. The only problem I've got is that whenever the image moves around the screen, its movement isn't smooth, it seems to be flickering like a hiccup time to time, an issue that doesn't happen on my OSX or Windows 7. I tried to disable all the processes in my cpu (even the antivirus and all that kind of stuff) and it still persists.

Does it still happen if you make it run in fullscreen mode?
Re: Odd lag in Windows 8/8.1
Oh! In fullscreen mode it runs perfectly. The fps is 60~61 all the time, what didn't happen on window mode until now (fps was always 59, never 60). Now I'm curious about that.slime wrote:Does it still happen if you make it run in fullscreen mode?

I don't think there's anything LÖVE's source code can do to fix it - Windows' window manager (maybe combined with certain graphics drivers) seems to have some issues with OpenGL programs in windowed mode. In Windows 7 or Vista you could work around it by disabling Aero, but I'm not sure Windows 8 has a similar option.
