Hey everyone,

I'm the moderator of the LOVE subreddit on Reddit (http://www.reddit.com/r/love2d). We're hosting our very first contest. The theme is "odd rules" and you have to make a game that follow 5 strange rules. The contest will be running for a week and the winner will be chosen by a community vote. The site for submissions will be running before the weekend.

You can check out more details at http://www.reddit.com/r/love2d/comments ... odd_rules/. If you have any questions, feel free to post here or on the Reddit thread.

Nice!

Apparently, it has 220 subscribers, which is pretty decent for us, although I think for Reddit it is pretty obscure.

The r/Circlejerk (some in-joke or something, I think) subreddit has over 60K subscribers. r/Gaming has 1,088,953.

I'd say it's mid-size for such a specific subject. The r/circlejerk subreddit is very broad, while r/love2d is only for people who use Love. For comparison, the gamemaker subreddit is 2 years old and has 219 subscribers, and r/unity3d and r/as3 have around 600 subscribers and they're among the largest of the game development subreddits (not counting r/gamedev since that's a broad one).

r/gamedev has almost 20,000 subscribers. The subreddits that do well tend to be centered around ideas rather than specific tools, because the tools are only, well, tools to realize an idea, and people generally find better support for the tools on the official hosted forums for them.

A lot of the subreddits are like that, especially most of the major/default ones, but that's less common in the smaller ones (and r/askscience is a good example of a very large subreddit that isn't like that).
