Hi all,
This game is about a duck lost in space. How it came to be there is a mystery, but your goal is to guide it back to it's pond on Earth.
When something comes back to earth its called re-entry and this is a duck doing just that, so its a duck-entry.
Some Features:
*Nebula-engine.
*2 variations of the same gameplay, with gravity and without.
*Menu system with pause/play, restart, credits and quit.
*Bunch more of stuff.
The game is a bit from being finished, what's left is:
*All soundwork.
*Some action when the duck has actually entered the planet, more gameplay and a "end".
*reworking it to make it fit for android distribution.
*Very likely a bunch more tweaks and fixes.
I'm hoping to release it on android phones(using Fysx awesome android port)) so I atleast have that experience of releasing something on phones, and who knows maybe somebody would like to try it there. The low resolution of the game is because I just found out my android phone resolution 480x320 and developed on that. For some reason the game looks much better on my android phone than on my big monitor.
I think I found a good way to organize my code, if you look through it and have a better idea then please comment. I have never made such a big project so I had to stop making everything like I was used to and change my ways.
But yeah please tell me if you find some bug, see some things that are strange or what you think of this little project.
Update 6.August: Long time since I posted here, but i've finally finished the game! The result is quite a strange game. It has an ending and ending song and some more soundwork(no sounds in space though!). And a forest has been added. Everything works, also the "restart" button and I also added a about-credit scene. And some more drawings and tweakings.
I think I just have to optimize some of the code for the android port, and I am learning now how to make .akp file and all that.
What are your opinions of the new version? Please tell me what you think of the ending!(and if you get there...)

Re: Duckentry [alpha]
Well done! Its a fun concept and it is cool that löve now works on android as well!
Personally I feel like the duck is a bit sluggish, but that might be intentional to "simulate being in space" and I suppose it adds a bit to the difficulty.

Re: Duckentry [alpha]
For some reason I thought this was a game going to be about duck carpentry.
Though i have to agree about the duck being sluggish, and the hit box seems to be off. Had a rock go over a bit of the lower part of the duck and a good part of the wing and nothing happened.
Other than those two things, the menu and design is good. Duck is a bit too blurry though.
The quack scared the hell out of me though. Did not expect it.

Thank you Jeeper! Yes, I never really thought of it being sluggish, maybe I will experiment with making a bit fatser.Jeeper wrote:Well done! Its a fun concept and it is cool that löve now works on android as well!

Haha, thanks for the feedback Syca! The duck was hand-drawn on paper so not sure how I will make it less blurry(unless afcourse drawing a new one) but it is drawn at 0.7 scale factor in love.graphics.draw. If you have tips on making it less blurry then please share them.Syca wrote:For some reason I thought this was a game going to be about duck carpentry.
