love and lua in mac os x

Hi just got a mac os X for the first time 
after like 5 hours got a lot of the commands etc.. different from windows (windows all my life)
and i am ready to install lua + love 2D but when i went to the site (LUA) i see all its different ..IDK how to download it???
it asking so much stuff which i have no clue (windows was easy)
does anyone knows a good site to install the lua ????
P.s 1 day of having the mac os X (snow ..something like that?)
also notepad++ windows which best free for mac ???
and what is Xcode???do i need it to install lua????
