This reminds me more of MotherLoad than Minecraft.

My biggest problem is the user interface. I still struggle to find the right keys*. It would be much easier if you could place small letters on the icons and/or make the icons clickable.

You should also use love.filesystem instead of os.execute("mkdir saves"). And by looking at the source code I found lots of repetition and hard-coded values. If you code more abstract, you can expand the games more easily (e.g. add a new type of block).

It is a nice game. Go on polishing it.

*Here are the key codes:
  • arrow keys - move around and dig
  • e - open the shop (on surface) / inventory (below surface)
  • a - place/pickup ladder
  • s - place/pickup stilt
  • d - place/pickup brigde
  • F2 - screenshot
  • x - save
  • z - load

I This looks like a good game but, I keep getting stuck on the ladders and can not move. It is fix with reloading.

1. I cant use love.fillsystem because it will make a folder in the LOVE folder, but I need it in the same folder as the game.
2. Oops, I forgot the controls
I will polish it!

I make "Lovium", but a mining laser will need more time.

sorry, in the next version I will fix this.
The oscillating field of view thingy makes my heard hurt
But what should I do?

Remove the oscillation effect. In real life the field of view does not change if your character does not move. The way you implemented this is seriously strange, I have never seen it before. I guess you aim for a"torch in a cave"-like effect, but that does not look like this either. I mean, I am the only one who has complained about it so far, and I admit that I get dizzy easily so leave it like it is if you like it. Just wanted to point out why it's unplayable for me.

I agree it is strange. It is way too fast and out of place at times. Mining down once and you can't see much is very odd since you can clearly see outside of the "mine". If you slow down the oscillation, maybe have more layers to it instead of one image, and scale it with depth, it might look better.

My problem is with the ladders. Why do they fall if you mine below them? I would think a ladder would be attached to the wall. And you can walk across them like a normal block, which is just out of character for a ladder.

One last thing, you should draw the tiles to flow better, like most minecraft tiles. It is mostly a matter of drawing something on one side but finishing it on the other. It would get rid of the border to the tiles, but I understand if art isn't what you are good at(I'm not good at it either).

But don't think I am disliking or anything, this could be quite fun, just some odd things here and there. Maybe even a reason to go to the surface?(sorry if there is, I didn't play very long)
