I don't know if any of you are familiar with the Flood-type games that are out there, but I thought I would try implementing one in Love. It was shockingly easy to implement something that worked, but trying to make it prettier / more user friendly has caused it to grow rapidly.

Controls:
Game:
- Number Keys: floods color
- Enter: floods color cursor is beside
- Escape: return to menu
Menu:
- Number Keys: choose option
- Enter: runs option cursor is beside
- Escape: exits game / go back a screen
Both:
- Up/Down and mouse: move cursor

Features:
Flood-based gameplay with variable difficulty
Keyboard and Mouse Input (including keypad and arrow keys)
Menu, Game, and Victory Scenes
How to Play, Options, and About Screen
Sound Effects (no music, sorry)
Saved High Scores (local to your computer)

Image

Thoughts, feature requests?

The "about" option not doing anything needs to be fixed. And offer instructions, since "flood-type game" isn't a very common genre.

Done and done. Also, I have added sound and restructured how the menu works. Adding mouse control is probably next.

If I press 2 or 3 twice in the main menu I get an error.

woah last time i played this game was ages ago, feels alot better now :)
Maybe put the grid in the centre and keep the colour numbers and turns on the bottom,
though thats just a personal preference for puzzler layout.

I thought about that, but I prefer to work in old screen resolutions like 640x480... makes fullscreen much easier.

I miss that the numpad keys don't do anything. Chosing 1-5 is a bit easier via the numpad.

Done. :) Also small bugfix with the cursor in the game scene, you can now choose colors with the arrow keys.

I don't know of anyone else making a flood game in Love, but the idea isn't exactly original: I've seen people implement the same concept in javascript/html.

So yes, you're losing your mind old man. :awesome:

Edit:
Also, we now have mouse input.
