I've just been wondering, why is it named that way? I currently think Love2d comes from "I love 2d", is that right?

This is a valid question, also why did they name it with a german umlauts ! If makes it a PITA when searching on google

The word love is too generic so you basically have to use love2d but then not everybody calls it by that......

It's a bit like a Mac "form over function", its a good name in looks, catchy but high maintenance.

I think they added the 2 dots above the O because it looks like a :O face.

I remember there being a story about this, but roughly, it's called love, because love is all you need (insert more puns here) and there's an umlaut because umlauts are cool. I like umlauts. Umlauts are cool.
