Did the Scrupp devs got inspired in LOVE or vice-versa?
http://scrupp.sourceforge.net/
The project seems promising and very similar to LOVE but don't know why seems dead.

It does seem almost exactly like Löve, but without our unique touch of class and style.
They also don't seem to have an as cool community (or any at all, for that matter):

Scrupp seems to be very similar in the API, but generally lower-level than LÖVE (I might be wrong about this, though).
It does support movies and UTF-8! Since it is MIT-licensed, shouldn't we “steal” some of that code?
EDIT: OMG, they even use the whole archive.(love|sar)/main.[s]lua approach! :O

Robin, I believe you should "steal" cof cof the Cairo support that for the examples I saw seems interesting.
I believe that the project is "dead" because the lack of promotion or something. Forum is almost empty. However in sourceforge there is activity in 16-09-2010 by basique (Andreas Krinke). Perhaps you should contact him for mutual help I don't know.

But would LÖVE benefit of embedding a library as huge as cairo (the tar-ed sourcecode of cairo 1.10 is 23MB in size)? I mean, how often do you need vector graphics for a 2D game?
I am not against using it, I just want to discuss whether it is really needed or not...

Cairo Framework uncompressed in Scrupp have only 1.8MB (at least in Mac App). Vector option is a valid choice like many others graphic outputs. For example could be handy in LOVE for projects like Gnx's HeroSquare

Added in Edit: Also remember that Cairo is handy for mask manipulation of raw images.
