Whats the best way to implement music?
I've been fiddling around with music recently and I notice that with most mp3s there are little clicks and pops that occur at a regular interval. Ogg files don't seem to have this problem. I assume this has something to do with how the sound is decoded. Is there a way to fix it or should I just transcode all my music to ogg?

I've never encountered any problems with using mp3s, but yes, I would still recommend you to re-encode them all to ogg/theora. You'll get the same audio quality and probably at a smaller filesize.

Vorbis ftw. Mp3 is patented.nevon wrote:I've never encountered any problems with using mp3s, but yes, I would still recommend you to re-encode them all to ogg/theora. You'll get the same audio quality and probably at a smaller filesize.

Also I'd recommend getting a tracker and messing with MOD files. They're super-compact, get great performance and are well-suited to making retro-sounding music.

Yeah, the demo music is in mod and it rocks.MaskedRetreiver wrote:Also I'd recommend getting a tracker and messing with MOD files. They're super-compact, get great performance and are well-suited to making retro-sounding music.

Yeah, that it does. Here's the tracker I use:

It takes some learning curve but it can be pretty intuitive once you get used to it. Also, as with so many things on the internet, there's a huge community of MODers out there making cool stuff:

Cool, thats what I figured. I like ogg better anyway.
Also, wow I had sortof forgotten about .mod. I was all about that stuff years ago because I lived too far from town to get decent internet, http://www.scene.org and the like used to be great music and video demos.
