So, I wondered what would happen if I tried to make a table which contained a billion tables of a billion tables... You know, just to see what would happen.

For the record, after about 60 seconds of crunching, Lua stopped and said it was out of memory.

10⁹ * 10⁹ = 10^18

So if every table would take up 1 byte, it would take up one Exabyte...

Is that a Wow! Signal/Carl Sagan combo reference?
