I know this post is probably going to annoy some people. But I'm not posting it to piss people off. I'm posting it because I'm desperate!
I recently started a new dubstep project. "Pledge". Releasing new tracks pretty often.
Newest Track: http://youtu.be/MtcVT6KxQ0I
And I'm really trying to get a couple more subs. I'm not too great yet. But I am still saving up some money, which, dissapointingly, is vital to music quality.
So, If you like any of my stuff. Please subscribe.
if you hate it. Please give me some constructive criticism.
If you don't care. don't comment until my post fades away into the abyss of older posts.,,,,

Re: Pledge
This is not LOVE related, please move it to General Discussion as that is where the off topic stuff goes.
As for the music, I don't even understand what "Dubstep" is so I have no comment. It just sounds like ordinary electronica to me.
EDIT: I'll see your bacon, and raise you a techno song entirely about a cheeseburger.

Re: Pledge
First of all, this should definitely be posted in general. Never post your music in an irrelevant forum/board, even if you are desperate. I will now proceed to harshly criticize your track:
Your song does some things that are uncharacteristic of dubstep. If you're doing them to be unique, I understand that, and if you're doing them unintentionally, I understand that too, because I've done both of those things while attempting to make dubstep. Nevertheless, you should avoid the following things:
-The section before the bass drop is 17 bars long. Why 17? 16 flows much better.
-The melodic sound in the bass drop at 0:33 and beyond is unfitting for the bass drop.
Here is a highly informative video on dubstep song structure:

However, my main complaint with the track is this: you seem to want to be taken seriously as a dubstep producer. However, your song has a vocal sample running through almost the whole thing that talks about grease on bacon and uses swear words in the most childish way possible. It comes across as extremely obnoxious. It's like someone who is trying to be funny and failing badly. If you want to make dubstep that is considered good, you need to focus on musicality. Drop the silly vocal samples, listen to lots of dubstep, and try and make something that you actually like. You will be much better off.
After I wrote that, I listened to Dark Brotherhood. If the two songs are any indication, you care too much about having vocal samples running through tracks. That's not how dubstep works, so don't force yourself to do that. Also, you're actually making brostep (which is also the style that Skrillex makes).

Re: Pledge
I consider dubstep and Brostep the same thing. But yea. They are a hell iof a lot different. And yea, i feel you on the vocal tracks thing. I wasn't really trying to be like anyone else, just wanted to make a song about baconXD but thank you for the advice!(: i am gonna make some more serious songs pretty soon.
also yea, i listen to ONLY dubstep. Tristam and tut tut child are my favorites!
I also need a mic, some major mastering, and a few more plugs to make my sound better. But money comes with time and persistence!
Thanks again for the post. I'll keep those words in mind when I'm working on future tracks. It's nice to have someone say why something is bad, not just that they dont like it.

Buying plugins can help your sound, but there's a lot of good free plugins:baconhawka7x wrote:I consider dubstep and Brostep the same thing. But yea. They are a hell iof a lot different.
