I really wanted some feedback on this, and I knew that if I posted this anywhere else, it wouldn't be helpful feedback. So Here it is!
You can watch the trailer here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zN5WVRmWp28&feature=plcp

Image

Controls:
it is still in a "developer" mode I guess you could call it.
  • Move - WASD
    Shoot - J
    Switch arrows - 1-5
Adjust gravity(Cheat mode is on) - up or down arrow
Spawn car in wave mode - U
    Get in car - K
It isn't even close to being done

The tutorial mode isn't finished, there isn't any goal or story of any kind, the shops don't work yet, there is only five arrows, there is only one mount, there is only one character, there is only one environment, and there are a few bugs, and things that just need to be touched up.

You start in a village, go to the right as far as possible and you will start fighting the first wave, when that is done it will take you back to the town.

It's been a WHILE sense I've worked on this. So the code is probably messy. Not sure(I still have sloppy code haha).

But All feedback is appreciated:D

It's good, but would be MUCH better if you could aim the bow.

That is awesome. I suck at changing arrows without getting killed though, maybe if you could shoot arrows with the mouse and change arrows with the scrollwheel it would be easier. Great job with the music.

Yea I was thinking about doing that not sure yet..

Also I was going to have two buttons that you use to switch arrows if I don't make it so that you use the mouse to aim.
But I probably will put that in soon:D

Looks nice, and even though it's not finished, most projects here don't get this far. I've got the same complaint as cardboard. Though I did have a good laugh at some of the arrows strange effects, like the nuke arrow. I certainly wasn't expecting that.

Hey Gage, Nice Work! Have you remade the code? You know, cause your hdd got wiped =( Also, I suggested click to shoot and use the scroll wheel to change arrows etc agesss ago, you should add it :D

It is really good but the tutorial should have a suitable ending, though.
Another thing is that if you run and shoot the arrows the arrows don't go as far (because the arrows don't speed up as the character does so the character just catches up with it), you should multiply the speed by the character speed.

Why multiply? Just add them

Really, really cool.

On the topic of aiming bows, maybe it would be a better idea to have a bow power that charges as you hold down to shoot further? (ala minecraft, or whatever it copied) Cos I feel this game would be best without needing the mouse.
Maybe use a single key to cycle through weapons/ammo types?
Also, its quite easy to get overwhelmed - maybe make the enemies slower, or spawn offscreen.
