Hello everyone! I have an amazingly awesome announcement for you all, and that is that love has its first *kinda* official competition! LOVEFEST, or LUVFEST for short, is a experiment/competition that will be fun, allow you to meet other coders, and best of all, show off your mad skillz!
Lovefest is loosely based off the rules of the popular site http://experimentalgameplay.com/
The rules are as follows:
1. There will one luvfest every month, but you need not participate if you dont wish to.
2. There will be one announcement thread telling you to prepare, and the time at which the subject will be announced.
3. Contests end at the end of the month they were started, and must be completed and posted it on the thread. (All game files must be included)
4. game.conf file must also be present if you are using a version that includes it (You were going to that anyway, right?)
5. Speaking of versions, you can use any version of love you would like, just make sure it really is love!
6. Each month will have a subject, i.e. Killer plants, babies, ninjas, ect.
7. Work must be done in Love (Obvious enough, though )
8. Smack talk is permitted on who's project is best
9.
If you want to test out your amazing coding skills, please take the time to enter! Trust me, it will be a BLAST!
The average experiment is suggested to go over the "5 Phases", as follows:
Phase 1 = Find out competition subject. Brainstormin' time! Come up with some concepts on paper, and go to bed happy to have a few ideas in mind
Phase 2 = Beef up concept, and work on all media and coding
Phase = Rush and try to finish up the code and submit! Laugh at the poor job your oponents did, or be laughed at
This will help your creative juices flow, so you can really start making some games! It will make for some great practice, so even if your an amateur like me, if you have the time, go for it! I will be keeping score, so your gloating will be justified
The first lovefest, "Lovefest 12/09", will begin soon! Let me know what you think about this, I hope you like it!
