GW2

Post by josefnpat »

Hey folks, I haven't been on IRC much, and it's due to the fact that I've gotten into Guild Wars 2.

I've never played the original Guild Wars, but I'm rather enjoying myself.

Anyone else playing? Add me on your friend list and chat me up!

So what's your situation guys?

11000 Guild Wars 2 players fall victim to hackers

Some years ago I wanted to play this game so bad but I can't get more time to play mmorg's. Not even D3 I got.

I was actually one of them. I tried to log in over the weekend to find that my account e-mail was changed. Getting hacked was my own fault but once your account e-mail has changed there is no way to retrieve your account or reset the password without a customer support ticket, which you can't even access once it's created because you need your account to do that.

That is really... But don't worry so much, it seems isn't hard they detect which accounts were tampered. I believe they will eventually do some kind of mass reset to original emails/resend temp password in affected accounts. But if they don't keep that info for sure they can revert selected accounts users to an older backup. Keep following the news. Remember to alter any other site data that you might use same password. Even that they should know you hacked get a way that staff know and confirm your account was targeted. They should have now some special open contact for that. Good luck Kadoba and don't loose faith of get back account.

Thanks, I know I'll get it back. I'm just disappointed their recovery system is so badly planned out.

I'm too poor to try this game, but I'm partial to the odd MMO (I love FFXI). Do you guys deem it worth the money?
Do you recognise when the world won't stop for you? Or when the days don't care what you've got to do? When the weight's too tough to lift up, what do you? Don't let them choose for you, that's on you.

It depends on what you like. So far I'm enjoying it but I have my gripes.

Good
  • No monthly fee.
  • Dynamic events are genuinely fun.
  • Several different ways to level from crafting to exploring.
  • Strong end-game PvP.
  • Extremely easy to group with friends no matter the level or server.
  • Tons of conveniences that make playing more fun such as bank deposits, mailbox access, and trading post shopping from any location.
Bad
  • There's not enough strategy in choosing your skills and combat is a button-mash fest. This is a huge contrast to GW1.
  • Story, dialogue, and characters all seem very boring/contrived to me.
  • Character progression is rapid but doesn't feel like you're accomplishing anything.
  • Very little character customization. All builds feel pretty much the same.
This is all my opinion of course.

Oh wow, I don't care about the good ones and I'd like the bad ones... I won't ever buy this game.
