Re: 4KB Explosions Contest
I would have to assume the compression levels are too high, or some incompatible algorithm is used.

Take that, Taehl!

Guess what, I got the blue screen of Hate! It said my OpenGL implementation doesn't support Framebuffers. That sucks...

Jesus, look at all that code. O.o
In my personal opinion I think you over-engineered your solution, but, wow, those are some really nice sprites for being purely generated. Good show.

Earliest Love2D supporter who can't Love anymore. Let me disable pixel shaders if I don't use them, dammit!

Fear not, for the version attached does not use such new-fangled hogwash anymore.BlackBulletIV wrote:It said my OpenGL implementation doesn't support Framebuffers. That sucks...
(it was only for fading out the loading screen anyway)

Re: 4KB Explosions Contest
Here's my crack at it. I made it all today in about 3 hours. It comes in at 2,370 bytes (almost half the required size ). Some unique features are:
- You can slow down, speed up, and even reverse (somewhat) time with the up/down arrow keys.
- Explosions have a 3 layer shockwave.
- The background changes to a new random color each explosion.
Unfortunately I couldn't include sound, it would've pushed me over 4096 bytes (unless of course I stole Taehl's low compression wonder, but that wouldn't be very nice would it? ). Also, it seems you'll have to unarchive it to play it.
Tell me what you think!
By the way, if you look at the code and are shocked by the horrible code style, never fear, this was just me cutting down whitespace to avoid more size. I am much better with code style normally.
EDIT: Just noticed how much code there is! I do agree, it's a bit over engineered... but I must admit, you've got more far more procedural genius than I do Good job!

Ah thanks. Nice stuff for no sprites whatsoever.vrld wrote:Fear not, for the version attached does not use such new-fangled hogwash anymore.BlackBulletIV wrote:It said my OpenGL implementation doesn't support Framebuffers. That sucks...

Re: 4KB Explosions Contest
I had a submission, but it was totally blown away by BlackBulletIV's. Must go back and work on it some more.

Re: 4KB Explosions Contest
Nice, guys.
vrld: your explosion looks a bit like a dust cloud. I should really check out the source. But not now. I missed my bus. Shit.
