Did you program any bias / favour / what ever-its-called into it? I spammed the space bar and my money didn't ever reach $0, so it looks like you're equally as likely to win as to lose.
my computer doesn't want to format the code properly right now, and I'm no good at reading walls of text, so I couldn't really find whether you did or not

It does have weighted statistics, you must have just been lucky to not have your money reach $0, it happens to me all the time xD

Mine is a bit more complex than random numbers. Mine is a strategy game, but what makes mine "random" is the fact that the enemies are randomly generated, in my game of course. As always, ain't telling it, don't wanna spoil the fun.. :3

Wow! Very neat! A few things from a quick testing (I understand this is a demo, these aren't supposed to be critical or hurtful, only helpful :) );

1. Typo in opening text says "I am Doc, you personal assistant."
2. Perhaps make the text print a bit more quickly, or allow speedup with space? Also, if you end up adding sound, having a beepy sound effect play on each letter printed would be very neat :)
3. Player handles a bit slowly, and enemies could do with some more variety (e.g. strafing, aiming, etc). Enemies which do not strafe firing straight ahead without a hitbox large enough to easily hit in vertical shooters is not usually a good idea, as it isn't very exciting and often leads to frustration... unless you're playing space invaders, that is ;)
4. Asteroids can't be hurt/destroyed. Is this intentional? Perhaps the classic "breaks into two smaller asteroids" may work here? ;)

The core "chance" mechanic is VERY clever, I like it quite a bit! Can't wait to see the final product, great work so far :ultrahappy:

I do plan to add a beep sound, but I'm procrastinating, because my earbuds don't do well with love.

I am planing to add enemy AI at some point.

We will have to wait and see, I sort of doubt that that many games would utilize canvases, but maybe I am wrong. If it becomes a major issue we can take action, don't want to exclude people :\
