You should do much more research before you begin posting. Lets take a look at how many posts I have on Eclipse Origins..okay, over 3,000. Terraria Online? 20-, not bad, and my game is very similar to Terraria, which the board actually has a specific place to talk about other games, etc. Pixeljoint? Another 20-, not bad, but I'm obviously not spamming, join date? Oh, 2011? Okay. Indiearmory? Over 100 posts, nice.

Most of these forums I'm already a member on, and have posted my project there because theres specific sections to do so. I've said many times this post can be removed if needed, and I've even been messaged by a moderator who obviously hasn't removed the topic, and doesn't have intent to do so. I'm sharing a game I'm creating with a community, I'm sorry if its not using your BELOVED Love2D engine, if your not interested in it, you don't have to comment. Yes the game was orignally built in VB6, and is now being converted to Java, I couldn't give a care less if you dont like any of those languages, and theres other projects you can view and enjoy other than this one. I'm sharing a game that I was hoping would intrigue people and get them talking about my game outside the realms of my every day forums that I use, obviously the administration has no problem, why do you keep bringing it up?

Until this topic is removed and/or closed, please keep it on topic. Thanks.

I'm not sure who you're talking to, but I brought it up once. Perhaps you mean the dozen of other posts that point out the same thing by different authors?

I don't really care for your excuses, you made your intention clear and even openly said and now confirmed that you did not read any posts here.

I've read them, but acknowledging them is a different story. I've already talked to a moderator, and the post can stay. I'd rather it keep on topic than seeing "VB6 omg omg", or "omg spam this games f@1l", if you don't have any interest, then stop posting. Otherwise, help me IMPROVE rather than telling me, oh I hate your coding language and since I hate it, your game sucks, or stop spamming because telling people about your game in a 2D gaming forums is illegal here. We're doing our best.

Ok, I'll drop the spam matter. Here's some genuine advice with no ill intent whatsoever:

The MMO market is saturated to the point where even games by big developers/publishers are struggling to be even remotely competitive. If you have any intention of making money off of your project, do not make it an MMO. You have better chances to win a lottery jackpot twice in a row.

If all you have right now is 2 artists and an idea guy, you're better off creating a more realistic premise for your project. You have no history of having successfully managed any previous projects, anyone with a speck of experience will understand that this is not a wise choice of employment for them.

What I recommend you do is put some effort into usable game development skills, learn how to program sufficiently to make tetris, pong or anything playable at all. I'm not talking about copy pasting resources you find on the internet, understand what you write. Art is secondary, if you don't have the code to make it move you're not going anywhere. If you don't have art you can still proceed with implementing all the gameplay elements.

Easiest way to convince other programmers to join your project is to prove that you're not just an idea guy, but someone capable of getting things done. Shiny text won't do this, shiny art might but you don't have that. Create something usable, start small and build from that.

Whatever you decide, it is unlikely your first, or even second project will be finished no matter what it is. It takes patience to do great things. Posting on myriad of forums as an idea guy will not win over any capable help.

What makes everyone think this is my first project or the fact that my team isn't what it needs to be? If you want the most updates, view my forums. I have 3 artists (seb, Fabzy, and MisfitWarrior) as well as a programmer (Rangerofthewest) whos very busy converting the engine from Visual Basic 6 to Java. Myself? I'm an experienced graphics artist, writer, and developer. My game is created with an ENGINE. Within the engine is tools used to develop the game, so once the programming is complete, its complete. We won't need to add anything unless we'd like something we haven't already created. Maps, items, NPC's, spells, anything, can be created at the touch of a few buttons. This is by far not my first project nor my first MMO creation. I'm a very avid writer, as I've written the basis of the storyline (the storyline still needs work) and I've also designed anything graphic related excluding the art within the game (such as sprites and tiles, etc). All the menus, the website, the forums, its all designed and maintained by me.

I've designed a fairly popular Pokemon MMO, Pokemon Cyrus, in which I gave the source to a willing buyer very long ago. Pokemon Mystery Universe is also another MMO in which I've used my Visual Basic 6 knowledge and created, and have also sold the source. This isn't my first rodeo, I don't really understand what makes you guys think that I have no clue what I'm doing, I actually do.

I'm also not creating this project for profit whatsoever, as much as I'd like to make money off it, its more for the experience and the fun of creating an MMO. I have a small portfolio of work I've ever done, and when I want to enter my realm of dream jobs, I wan't to be able to have a wide variety of things I enjoyed created and created succesfully, hopefully Chaoscraft will be one of those projects within the portfolio. If your not interested in the project, or it doesn't suit your needs, then move on. Theirs other projects you could be interested in, and if you are interested, give me help with what I can improve on. I'm not going anywhere just because a few LUA junkies told me I should scrap my project and start over, but I did start converting to a new language, so I'm open-minded.

While Java is a step (or 50) up from VB6, it confuses me why you wouldn't go with something..... good, now that you've decided to switch.

I picked Java because Java is a computer programming language that is concurrent, class-based, object-oriented, and specifically designed to have as few implementation dependencies as possible, not to mention is versatile as far as who can use it goes. Its used in millions of todays devices (your phone, your computer, even your security systems within your business or home) its a language thats not dead, works, and is compatible with most users. Thats why I chose it. It also has browser-capabilities. What more could I ask for?

Because you used VB6? And now you're switching to Java?

ZING!

Seriously though, Java is kinda...well. It's good for phones, I guess. I got burned by Java in the 90's when it was brand new and overhyped as the FUTURE OF EVERYTHING.

Because you provided no evidence to the contrary.

Do I have to state that I've had prior experience developing games and MORPG's? Note its a MORPG, multiplayer online roleplaying game, nothing "massive" about it. MORPG, not MMORPG. I started off in Visual Basic 6 because I've been a part of Eclipse Origins (the forum I have 3000+ posts on) when I was 13, which was originally coded in Visual Basic 6, that was 5 or some years ago now. Eclipse is really well put together for what it is, you should check it out. Its currently being ported to an HTML5/JavaScript engine, which is going really good. Since I've always used Eclipse, thats what I've used as a base for Chaoscraft, theres tons of games to name that were made with Eclipse and you didn't even know it. Such as the Pokemon games I named, Zelda: Origins (2D Zelda MMO), or some non-fan based games such as Zelts! ORPG, Legend of Hyrule, Primal Heroes, and Ambardia Online. Its a rather nice engine for what it is, thats why I began in Visual Basic 6.

The fact I'm now using Java I've stated many times, the fact so many people can use it, and the fact its very easy to use. It can also be played in a web browser, which I can't wait to see. Thats why we chose Java.
