256x256 is actually quite fine. If you could provide the originals at that resolution it'd be cool. I was wondering why the ones you put up were blurred pixelated. Makes sense. Eventually you can do 512 if you want to perfect them later. (I could use them for a better title screen.) You can just supply the images raw because I will be manipulating them to fit the sprite sheet as needed.
For the fries I just stretched it horizontally and it looks fine. I really can't wait to replace the other foods because my hard edged sprites look so weird next to your painted ones.
I'd love to also give you credit on a splash intro. Do you have a logo you usually use for your games that I can put up?

A quick bump to show off the amazing artwork retrotails has done so far for the game. I will put up a demo to download later. But for now here's a video.
We've been working together via PM. I'm very happy with what I've gotten so far. Especially in action. It's not all finalized though as some stuff will be tweaked. I really need to work on a background. The blue is so plain.

I like the menu the most. Looks very dynamic and "fun" to use!

I want to do something cool for the title screen. I'm thinking a drawing of a diner or something. And a logo that looks and feels like the original Fast Food neon logo. But maybe something more modern.
The menu is my favorite. It's a library I wrote for myself. It needs some tweaking for this game though as it's not finished.

I LÖVE the graphics, it's really cool. The menu it has now is pretty good, so I dunno if a change would make it better.
For background, it's not necessary for it to have any picture, for it's just a background, only there to make objects stand out against it. Of course plain blue is too plain, so try some simple faint pattern, like cloth.

Just look at this delicious food retrotails has drawn. That double cheeseburger looks so good I just want to bite my screen.
Any ideas for other foods I could add? Anything missing? I'm still thinking onion rings to go with the fries. Maybe nachos dripping with cheese.

The purple pickle is only a few pixels away from looking like an anal dildo.

Well, what do you expect, the engine's name being what it is...
