I was inspired by a game called 'Songbringer'. It's a procedurally generated Zelda-like game. I was impressed with how, despite the overworld and dungeons being randomly generated, it was done in a way were things still maintained a sense of cohesion. If you didn't know that it was procedurally generated, you probably wouldn't guess that it was. I actually played that game so much a couple of years ago that I ended up getting the speedrun record. And I'm not a speedrunner, so I was kind of proud of that.

Speaking of procedural generation...
I came across this kingdom management game with meaningful choices in ASCII called
warsim. This game procedurally genrates
a lot. It has 75 million races that can be procedurally generated and ontop of that it has a face generator that can in turn generate ~300 000 faces for each race.
Orc faces!
Progen to the max!!

I have another one!!
Today I accidentally(?) downloaded the rom Tengai (arcade) and I'm here to sight it with having some cheesing (really) good enemy design, though it's so hard and is (apparently "almost") a bullet-hell, I kept "continuing".
But still, the steampunk feudal japan is portrayed with some of the best parallax scrolling and character animations and portraits.

Comix zone appeared pretty amazing to me, well its not a great game, but the grapics and storytelling, they just dont make such games anymore
Candy box! This one is addictive. It actually inspired me to do my own Ascii art game.
Last year i made a game inside the mouse pointer, is that creative?

I've heard of candy box, and I'd always avoided Comix Zone because of the name, but now I'll check it out

To blow your mind, like, REALLY blow your mind, try
Catacombs of Solaris. It's written in a framework somewhat similar to Löve, but with a built-in scene graph, called Amulet. It's more of an interactive kind of caleidoscope than a game, but still. It takes a while to understand what's going on. A very clever mechanic.

I just found out that Outcast is currently FREE on GOG!
https://www.gog.com/game/outcast
It's a FPS with a non-linear storyline, and I absolutely LOVED it back in its heyday! Check it out!!
