Considering you changed the entire name of the topic, nobody else knows what this topic is now about, so derailing it is impossible.

First off, why do you automatically assume Chinese kids crack captchas? Anyone could if they wanted.
Second off, it's not always for money. Sometimes people are either bored, or dumb. It depends.

In the past 10 days there have been almost 1,000 spam bot posts manually denied
Holy crap dude, you have massive bot attack there, I had no idea. Why do they even think they can have any money gain off your site anyway.
why do you automatically assume Chinese kids crack captchas?
Who else would do that for $0.25 for 1000 cracks? But I wasn't really mean specifically chinese kids, and specifically kids for that matter.
It's not always for money
In that quantities, it's definitely not "bored" or "dumb", it's "I wanna earn money on spam".

Not all spammers do it for money, which was my point, that you failed to realize.

Lots. Plus, a smart enough spammer doesn't need to hire captcha crackers. He/she/it could figure it out themselves if they wanted to.

Dudes, welcome to 2013. Here just one of many example of tools using automated captcha solving:
root@reptile:/home/hpfrosch# apt-cache show slimrat
Description-en: GUI application for automated downloading from file hosters
Provides a graphical interface for automatically downloading files from hosting providers.
Slimrat is also capable of captcha solving using tesseract for optical character recognition.
No chinese kids sitting in basements solving captchas all day, sorry.
