The Ludum Dare rules (see here) are quite reasonable:kraftman wrote:Are there some common rules used for game jams?
Rule 5 is a given. Rule 2 includes all kind of content, i.e. graphics, sounds and music.
- You must work alone (solo).
- All game code and content must be created within the 48 hours.
- Games must be based on the theme.
- All libraries, middleware, content creation, and development tools are allowed.
- Source code must be included.
- Base code and personal code libraries are allowed, but should be declared and shared with the community prior to beginning your entry. To do this, make a [forum] post.
- Photos and recordings you make of people or things are acceptable content, just you must acquire them during the competition.
- Fonts, drum loops, drum samples, and sampled instruments are allowed IF you have the legal right to use them.
- Content generators are allowed. In fact, you are encouraged to create them and share them with the community. sfxr, the extremely popular sound effect generator was originally created for Ludum Dare. It has since gone on to be used in many indie and commercial games.
- A logo/intro screen you use on all your works is allowed (e.g. “by Super-Great Productions”).
Could you please elaborate on this? I keep a collection of handy functions (most of which are only a few long lines) which I end up using for almost every game I code. Also, may I use things like TEsound, TLbind, and other libraries I've previously made?vrld wrote:

Ooh, I should make one of those!vrld wrote:

Just make it public somehow. You could add a post to the Share your Utils thread or to one specifically created for the competition. If it's already in the forum or on the wiki, it's fine. Since you released TEsound, TLbind, TLboner, etc. to the public you may use them in your entry. The same goes for other libs like AnAL (see rule 4).Taehl wrote:Could you please elaborate on this? What about bitbucket/github(/sf?)? If I in fact do announce it beforehand/at the start.vrld wrote:Just make it public somehow. [...] If it's already in the forum or on the wiki, it's fine.

I really liked not having to do art and sound for Bacon Gamejam! I really liked that team flow!bartbes wrote:vrld wrote:

Really?
I kind of liked the jam (rules) more, after all, we did create FoB .
