That is not what he meant, not even close.
He meant Box2D is too much trouble for a platformer. I say it doesn't have the platformer feel. But we never said physics are bad :death:

Gish worked because of how its main character was designed. Physics isn't good for normal bipedal characters like Mario or Sonic. In those cases it's better to write your own game world and apply its own physics. Mario games have been perfected for 25 years. The original was great, but buggy. SMB3 took it a step further and since then it's gotten better and more solid. You can see how different it is with the Mario Bros. game that came out before SMB that SMB was a large leap forward.
