Story time: In the past I was able to record with https://github.com/qubodup/ogatools/blob/master/capwin but then either a software update or replacing the mainboard made it not work. The asoundrc format was (and still is) too confusing and I couldn't reach anybody to hand-hold me, or to have the same issues on the same onboard soundcard. I resorted to using external recorders to capture the audio and to just adding some music. Much time wasted, made me hate recording videos for that time. PulseAudio was not an option because I had a bad experience with it delaying audio in Audacity immensely. It also felt morally wrong to have two audio systems running at the same time. Later I would use it for recording sessions and then turn it off until I noticed that there were no more issues with Audacity. Now I have it running all the time and I'm content with it.
