Hey Hexenhammer, none of what you typed was in vain. I kinda get it. Besides,

"LuaJIT is now being used by LÖVE by default" and also "love.math" <-- Really? A proper PRNG? Is it crypto strong or not?
Why do you keep the tables in a spreadsheet? Export them to Lua once and then work with the Lua tables. If you need to keep the values in a spreadsheet for some reason you have no alternative to writing a loader. Not familiar with OO.org but usually all spreadsheet apps can export CSV and you can write a CSV -> Lua table loader in a few lines of code.
Forward thinking. Recipe and more so ingredient tables are going to be huge. Sooner or later I'm going to see the "Player" getting too much or too little money. I can apply wide spread changes (like -12.5%) to all prices everywhere within a spreadsheet. I think they call it "game balancing". Can't easily do this working with raw text based tables. Hence the possible need for a table loader --> but not right now.
