I have an extra partition on the windows drive that i believe both OS's can access, Can always use that to transfer files between the 2 OS's. If that doesn't work for whatever reasons i also have an external drive.
If you have a portable hard drive with a USB 3 connection, it works pretty well and fast. It will back-up everything including the boot sector if you find a sweet spot that you want to keep. I think it only does one drive at a time, though it will do multiple partitions on one drive. It works like Norton Ghost, but for free and open-source. It won't care what operating systems you are running either. As a side note, it also compresses the data to save space. However, it doesn't encrypt to my knowledge.
