Linux is a weird one. Seems some companies don't really want to support it for some reason, especially weird since Mac and Linux share the same kernel base so it shouldn't exactly be rocket science. An example is Silverlight. Its available (with DRM) for every platform except Linux, which means Netflix works for every platform except Linux (natively). There is a Winehack, and it seems to work ok, but thats besides the point.scutheotaku wrote:d_0o_d wrote:scutheotaku wrote: As a side note: I thought that Adobe Air supported Linux, no? If not, that's pretty strange considering all the other OS' it supports (including Android OS, which is built on Linux).
Pickle looks cool. Googled AIR and seems there is a linux build. I'll try it. I have been trying to use ASEPRITE but I am completely new to pixel art, so haven't gotten 100% comfortable with it. I'm still opened to new things.
I got really comfortable with Photoshop over the years. GIMP just doesn't do it for me. Subtle differences on how the program works slows down my creativity because I think in Photoshop terms since it was the first I learned.
Pencil is an easy cross-platform animator, but it crashes a bunch (linux), so you have to save often. I really like animation and drawing in Flash, but I haven't used it since MX 2004 so don't know where its evolved. Team MEAT uses flash and have an export that (I am assuming here) converts the vector images to text/vectors for import into their engine. Flash has scripting so you could probably extend it quite a bit. I have my old version of Flash and might try to load it in wine and see if I can write a script to make sprite sheets.
EDIT: Holy quoting batman!
