Have you tried Sublime Text? I always used heavy IDEs in the past and started out using Lua on Windows, so I tried Notepad++. I also have a linux computer so I checked out Sublime Text and it really struck me. I like it because now I have the same text editor on all my computers (and they have a portable app for windows, for my thumbdrive).
It works on the shareware model, so you have a fully functional version for free as long as you want. Register it if you like it kind of thing.
Don't know about other Mac writers though, but check it out if you haven't.

There are quite a few, including: Sublime Text 2 (my personal favourite), TextMate, BBEdit, TextWrangler, and a whole bunch more.

He is talking about when you work in an IDE how it has a library of all the possible functions and descriptions of those functions.MelissaM wrote:I know I may sound stupid, but what do you mean by "auto completion things"?veethree wrote:Are there any love auto completion type things available for any of these like for notepad++?

Just did some googling, seems like it works well in Wine on Mac (probably the link above?)
