Source Engine, SDK

Post by Lafolie »

Since I recently installed Windows strictly for games (really, it has only Steam and misc games installed. Oh and hamatchi and the likes) I decided to grab the Source SDK and see how it's changed since the days I used to play the GoldSrc games.

So has anyone played around with it before? At the moment I'm just working on a Counter-Strike: Source map called de_refinery that will be some sort of mineral refinery. Though I was leafing through the documentation and it seems like a neat engine to mess around with.
I was wondering whether anyone has any tales, examples or tips from their own experiments with it. I was also considering reinstalling garys mod since that seems to be easily modded. It also has the advantage of using lua, which I already know thanks to this place :)
Do you recognise when the world won't stop for you? Or when the days don't care what you've got to do? When the weight's too tough to lift up, what do you? Don't let them choose for you, that's on you.

I don't really have anything to add to this "discussion" about Source, but I want to point out that Hamachi runs just fine on Linux, I use it for Minecraft all the time :neko:
