So you don't advice use slime OSX build? Well, but it's the only 0.8 working build I have. Ya, you better then release OSX some "official" in-dev build!thelinx wrote:You're using 0.8.0 code that was NEVER RELEASED. In-development builds are DEFINITELY GOING TO CHANGE A LOT.
It's your own fault for building your long-term project on sandy ground.

Re: Snayke - new beta!
The method in question was never removed from LÖVE. I have been using the absolute latest version available to me at the time for many months now, and I've always updated the game to utilize the newest features. The game *does* work with the latest version of LÖVE 0.8.0, in fact I just played it by downloading Mari0 and running Snayke using Mari0's LÖVE (the mac version of which is actually a little bit outdated now because it hasn't been updated for the latest commits since March 3rd, but that doesn't matter for Snayke).killer64 wrote:lawl i havent even found mari0 until a few weeks ago, im pretty sure its the latest version, have YOU tried downloading the latest version?slime wrote:Try updating your version of 0.8.0, spritebatch:getImage() was added fairly recently (a few months ago).
EDIT: Woah, i downloaded a previous version (19-Feb-2012 02:12) and it worked fine!
looks like you will either beg them to put the function back in or just find another way to do itit isnt outdated its just unstable with alot of projects atmthelinx wrote:Maybe you should make your project work with the current build, instead of relying on out-dated, never released code.
You're gonna have to do it sooner or later.
Re: Snayke - new beta!
that would explain it, the updated love wasnt released for mac, so windows users would get the version it was removed in, anyways until you figure this out can you direct windows users to the latest revision that has the funtion: "10-Jan-2012"slime wrote:The game *does* work with the latest version of LÖVE 0.8.0, in fact I just played it by downloading Mari0 and running Snayke using Mari0's LÖVE (the mac version of which is actually a little bit outdated now because it hasn't been updated for the latest commits since March 3rd, but that doesn't matter for Snayke).killer64 wrote:-snip-

Sometimes, the elegant implementation is just a function. Not a method. Not a class. Not a framework. Just a function.

No, the method was never removed. I have been building OSX versions of LÖVE for myself with the latest changes for a long time now and it hasn't broken my game in that manner. You might be launching the game with an old version unknowingly if you're double-clicking the .love.
See this and this, from the latest version of the source as of today.
EDIT: it almost sounds like you're grabbing the windows build at the top of the page rather than the bottom. Note that it's sorted by date so the latest will always be at the bottom.

Re: Snayke - new beta!
So I'm running 0.8.0 Love in Ubuntu 11.10 and it freezes at the menu, my graphics card is a piece of bread, would that be part of the problem?
Re: Snayke - new beta!
hey man, just tried out your game. it's really REALLY nice . I like the overall mood of it a lot. Very relaxing with the slow piano music and the pretty colours. The portal idea is awesome too.
Are you going to release this commercially? It seems like you've put a hell of a lot of work into it.
Great stuff!

Re: Snayke - new beta!
Does it produce an error message or simply freeze? It's possible your graphics card or drivers are the problem, but it should be erroring rather than freezing. Which card exactly? Are your drivers as up to date as possible?forestwolf42 wrote:So I'm running 0.8.0 Love in Ubuntu 11.10 and it freezes at the menu, my graphics card is a piece of bread, would that be part of the problem?
Thanks! I do plan to release it commercially, but I've got some more features to implement before I'd consider it purchase-worthy. Here's the latest WIP of one of the music tracks: http://soundcloud.com/antonriehl/snayke-idea-1-r2-wipfelix24 wrote:hey man, just tried out your game. it's really REALLY nice . Congratulations Slime! Now that 0.8.0 officially arrived I can also officially declare that your game is the only LOVE thing I can't run (neither with your new JIT version). Yes, your "bloom.lua" thing is the guilty one.
