Re: NetWars - beta
Alright .. I've got my network generating money .. now what?
I have no idea how to attack, or anything to attack, for that matter.

Ok so by default, every device you add is 'offline'. So you need to turn it online. What is the purpose of an offline device? Does it save you money or anything?
This desperately needs balancing. I joined, and was very quickly destroyed. It is very easy to be put into a position where you are unable to generate any cash, and therefore unable to create any new devices.

Re: NetWars - beta
I think I just pwnt a noob lol
Oh, sorry Mr wax .. you are right - the game needs to start you further away from opponents to give you a chance to build up a bit.
Nice game.
How many players does it support?
and have you any plans to add an AI opponent?

Re: NetWars - beta
Well, the game is multiplayer only for now.
Its best to get players on IRC, because its good to start in same time.
Stripwax: well, in later in game you will have many offline R to redirect packets where they are needed atm.
Im considering having G default Online for now, but not R.
Currently there is no player limit build in, I think 8 players should play resonable well tho.
Can support much much more when I will add dedicated UDP socket for every player, or increased wmem of
current socket.
Well, about AI.. dunno, I think is much more fun to play with players :)

Re: NetWars - beta
Needs much clearer visual distinction between online and offline.
Is the world 'unbounded' (I can scroll left/right/up/down as far as I want?). I've just created a massive sprawling network but now I can't even find it, I've scrolled too far...!!! Would be great to have some kind of indication where the networks are, or (if the world is bounded), have it wrap (toroid-style perhaps).
The server seems very laggy at times - add a few new routers and generators, and mark them online and wire them up.. and then sit back and wait for it to actually do it...

Re: NetWars - beta
Seemed fine this end, lag-wise.
How about a "home" buttom that takes you to the mean position of your nodes?
And maybe a minimap? Could show mean location of nearby players' nodes, just giving a general indication of where to look for opponents, so you don't get taken by surprise.

Nice... How can I take someone down?
EDIT: Found out: I did some test (why should someone be able to enter with more than one client from one pc?) and I discovered that you have to link a router to an enemy device to destroy it

If someone wanted to enter, I just set up a 'small' net (75G, mine is 21G) to help
