Source:setVolume() higher than 1?

Can I set a source's volume to higher than 1?

I can't detect any difference between that and a volume of 2. I ask because I have a sound effect that I can't hear when its volume is 1.

setVolume() is between 0.0f and 1.0f. It might be the actual sound source that is quiet.
