Wouldn't it be good if it was divided in "Games" and "Libraries"? There are so much threads for both, and also it would make easier for newbies to have a look to the games already developed with Löve2D.
Re: About the forum "Project and demos"
So and where it lands all other things that aren't games or libraries? There are other programs like (very good) LOVE music editors and other utilities. Spite of think that's interesting a dedicated sub-forum for libraries I think your "Games" only forum not a refined idea.molul wrote:Wouldn't it be good if it was divided in "Games" and "Libraries"? Re: About the forum "Project and demos"
Why not? There is enough content for it. Not full games, but a lot of demos. Many people who enter here want to go see games directly (to have an idea of what Löve can do), and it's difficult to know what is what in the "Projects and demos" forum.coffee wrote:So and where it lands all other things that aren't games or libraries? Sorry, I can't stop my inner admin (I administrate 3 forums) from trying to put a little order in (IMHO) a very disordered forum (lol). First of all, how is "Forum" a forum's category? (lol-2). Second, there's a subforum called "Project and demos", and immediately below, three more forums dedicated to three PROJECTS.
In my head this would be a better forum's hierarchy (I don't say the best, as I only gave it 5 minutes):
"Löve 2D development"
|
|---- General discussion
|
|---- Support
|
|---- nLöve
|
|---- Löve Android
"Community"
|
|---- Libraries
|
|---- Games
|
|---- Utilities and applications (this is where not games neither libraries topics would go)
I don't know where "A whiff of Steam" should be. Is it a game or an engine?
In my opinion, that hierarchy makes more sense. But hey, just an opinion!
EDIT: an Off-Topic forum to talk about games, tv shows, music or any other hobbies we have, would be nice too.

So in first post, you forgot to tell also that you didn't wanted to divided in "games" and librairies" but Games, Libraries and other sub-divisions that could also be pertinent. It's a bit different, case closed that's all I wanted to point.molul wrote: "Community"

Well, so you can also think in the usual problems in this moves/reorganizations. Who will have time to clean and separate the old topics to new division? Section is huge. Or will leave it there unsorted and side by side with new section/organization (and so creating confusion of where to find what)?Sorry, I can't stop my inner admin (I administrate 3 forums) from trying to put a little order in (IMHO) a very disordered forum (lol).
Re: About the forum "Project and demos"
Of course, but if you're a programmer, you'll agree that it's always better to stop for a moment, reorganize everything and then go back to development (saving a lot of time although apparently losing it), than to go on with an unorganized workspace.coffee wrote:So in first post, you forgot to tell also that you didn't wanted to divided in "games" and librairies" but Games, Libraries and other sub-divisions that could also be pertinent. Also, I don't think it's THAT hard and dark to do this. At least in my experience it has always been as simple as telling the users what is being done, create the new containers (categories and forums and subforums), move the stuff, and then telling all the people that the task is done.
Anyway, I could help on that I don't say I'd have it done in one evening, but maybe in a couple of weeks. In the meantime I don't think people will suffer too much if they're told that the forum is being reorganized.

Re: About the forum "Project and demos"
Please don't. I prefer forums with less number of divisions over ones with large amounts. Löve2d is as good as it's going to get.
For example, I frequent NeoGAF all the time. It's the most visited site I go to besides FaceBook and this forum. Why? Because it has three main forums. Off-Topic and Gaming as well as Community which is for online gaming. I spend my time in the first two. I have many other forums I visit, but all of them have sometimes 10-20 different sub-forums. Information ends up being scattered all over the place. I prefer to have it in as little places as possible.
Löve is fine as it is. The forums are descriptive and easy to figure out.

Re: About the forum "Project and demos"
For me, more than 20 topics of the same subject deserve its own section, being the point that an user (new or not) finds what he's looking for, easily and intuitively, at first sight of the forum.
But hey, I prefer using Notepad++ while other people prefer using emacs. At the end it's just different points of view.
PS: I'd get mad in a three sections only forum (lol).

Re: About the forum "Project and demos"
My opinion is that if you have even one category that doesn't get posted in every 24 hours, you have too many categories. Of the six forums, only three consistently have at least one new post per day. Hence, we have too many subforums already, we don't need more.
