I was wondering if LOVE automatic does physics for you like if a speeding ball hits you it move you a bit. If it does, is there a way to change that off?
Re: Physics
If you don't specify that you want to use LOVE's rigid body physics engine, it won't use it. No worries.

Re: Physics
Sensors, differences in mass, and moving things back to the place they're supposed to be would also be viable options. For instance, a soccer goalie hit by a ball could be propelled somewhat backwards and then acquire a force which makes it move back to the x coordinate it's supposed to be at.
