Crash 'Em Bash 'Em Car Soccer Robots

Post by CarSoccerRobots »

Over the New Year's weekend, our team created a game based on Exidy's 1977 Coin-op hit "Car Polo".

It's only had a couple of days of work done on it, but so far we think it's pretty fun already. No AI mode - you'll need to find somebody to play with.

Hardwired Controls:
Player 1 (Red): WASD
Player 2 (Blue): UpLeftDownRight arrows
Player 3 (Pink): YGHJ
Player 4 (Cyan): PL;'

Joystick/Gamepad support is on the way.

Music Credits:
Victor Vergara Lujan, aka AWS or Awesome
Jakub Szelag, aka Aceman
Frédéric Cordier, aka Reflex
Jukka Kaartinen, aka Jugi/Complex
Benoît Charcosset, aka Maf

I love the squealing for the tires. It sounds like someone just squeaked into the microphone and put it on loop. I'm still laughing.

Fun game, I had some pleasure even testing it alone.
The best: The scratches, the tire marks, the strange ball behaviour, the goal celebration (could long more please).
The Worst: The Full-screen hijack.
Wanted: Some crappy AI.

I was going to say maybe add a small catch area in front of the car, so that you could control the ball better, but it looks like the original played pretty similar to your version.

Actually, one thing that I would like changed would be to stop making the ball try to return to the center. It makes lining up for a shot very difficult, since the ball will start moving pretty rapidly toward the center.
