Re: LUBE (Networking Library) v0.01.2

Post by bartbes »

Well.. no, and that is one of the things I need other people for. I really don't care to continue to work on LUBE, however, managing a demo project seems to go a little beyond scope.

Nonetheless I'll push out something to demonstrate everything, however DON'T expect anything fancy.

Features should include:
  • Closing without 'saying goodbye', to see the server log them off
  • Plain sending and receiving data
  • Multiple clients from 1 IP
  • Using localhost instead of 127.0.0.1, for dns
  • Cause some errors
  • Try to load again, however with 'wrong' version
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Release date: somewhere around 0.02 (which depends on betatesters)
Estimated release date: Before 2009 (local time ;), GMT+1)

EDIT: I keep surprising myself with my lack of occupation, packaging and posting it now.
I'll try to make something out of it sometime. Again, help is greatly appreciated.

New request for beta-testers for this great new feature:
INBUILT WORKING TCP SUPPORT
I need those testers to get it working

so
Sign up now!
EASTER EGG: There are plans for an IRC client/server

EDIT: I found out it's unclear what there is to do for the beta-testing: you decide! You can do one of the following things:
  • only try to use it in as much ways as possible
  • fool around with the demo
  • check the coding
  • fix something yourself

Im confused a little, Youve put this thing together and provided some simple examples on how to use LUBE?

Because eventually i would like to adopt this, Although im only in the early stages of learning LÖVES ropes so its not high priority for me. Also it seems as though you are agitated that others arent following this either, I dont think that it is people not paying attention but they are busy with other things such as making useful libraries such as yourself.

I cant wait to start using this though as ive always wanted to get my hands wet with networking :)

Yeah, I've created this. And I may look like I'm a bit agitated, it's just that I can't stand waiting. No offense to anyone.
It's because I don't have anything to do at the moment. Normally when that is the case, I would start a game, however, the HD where all my games are installed crashed about 1 week ago, so I'm just plain bored.

Why can't you test it yourself? Sure having people test it for you is great and all, but it'll be the same result. Test it a few times yourself, allow people to use it, and if it doesn't work, fix it. :)

That's how most of the times I get the bugs out eventually, but I've had a few times where I've had a non-working version online.

Ok, I admit, it's not really in development at the moment, however I would be able to continue work on this. I'll post the newest version (like the one in LUBE-X) in a few days.
But, if anyone has a feature request, the time is now!

Please note that if there are no feature requests development WILL be stopped.

I would like to have a look at the source if you don't mind.
If you mind I can file this as a feature request :D

What, you can't look at the source? It's a lib, you should be able to read it.
It's possible you are trying to open the LUBE-X files, and those are 'compiled', but that is because the lib in those releases are experimental and shouldn't be used.
