@Vim/Emacs: I wouldn't recommend either of them unless you're really interested in learning for the sake of learning. I tried for a week to get the hang of Vim, until I realized that A) I'm probably too stupid, and B) I haven't got the patience for it.

But if you love learning new things that won't pay off for a couple of weeks, then hey. Go for it. Don't let anybody else piss on your bliss.
