Boids 3D

Post by Robin »

I made another Boids implementation. Completely 3D this time. Click and drag your mouse around to change the viewing point. The blue square below is the ground, I made it for extra orientation.

Have fun!

That looks pretty cool, but it only runs at 15 FPS for me. Also, the boids tend to collide and jerk around a lot.

Yeah, bad performance is a problem. You can reduce the number of boids if it is a problem (first line of love.load(), first parameter).

FIFY. But yeah, some parameters could probably be tweaked a bit. I also haven't implemented FOV, mainly because I can't work out how that works in 3D space.

Ah, yes. You need a screen of more than 800x800. Sorry 'bout that.

I know? Alt+F4 still works, though. ;)

Nice! I do have fun with love 0.7.2, but with 0.8 it is awfully slooooow :(
My lovely code lives at GitHub: http://github.com/miko/Love2d-samples

I love it!
Add zooming and a more relaxing colour scheme and ill marry it :neko:
I love the way they swim around together, reminds me of gliders in the game of life a little.
Dull but sincere filler.

Not to thread-hijack, but how is CUDA, by the way?

Runs fine on my comp. Looks really cool! Are you supposed to be able to do something except look around?
