Yeah, it's been legal for over a year now. The trouble is that it takes time and hard work from someone who has an iPhone to port LÖVE to iOS. Plus I'm not sure all the libraries LÖVE uses will work on iOS.

Re: LOVE for iPhone?
It's totally possible to do (and would be really awesome too). The main problem is ripping out many of the current libraries behind LOVE's interface and replacing them with some of the iOS libraries (like CoreAudio, OpenGL ES, etc.). anjo started on making a port, but unfortunately hasn't been working on it for quite a while.

Re: LOVE for iPhone?
Maybe one day we'll get a way to do it. I'd prefer it just be an iOS Runtime that is capable of loading .love files using the iTunes file transfer protocol. If Apple allowed that. That way we'd just have to create Löve files with the proper iPhone compatible callbacks in our game, and add a check for the OS (Are we running on iOS or OS X, Windows, whatever) or better yet, a check for "is touch capable" and just have a universal touch API for Löve that will work on any system with a touch screen whether it's iOS, Android or Windows on a tablet.
Of course that's a lot of work and won't be any time soon at all. It's just a pipe dream.

Not wanting to deter your efforts on Löve or anything, but if you want to do Lua in the iPhone, the Corona SDK can help you. And it will work on Android, too.
It's not open source, though.

When I write def I mean function.

It also costs money per year (on top of the iOS developer license) if you actually want to publish anything.kikito wrote:Not wanting to deter your efforts on Löve or anything, but if you want to do Lua in the iPhone, the Corona SDK can help you. And it will work on Android, too.

I'll be trying out this framework soon.
And Corona is too much of an engine.
