Avoiding love.graphics.setMode() fixes some wierd things on some systems. Not sure how vsync-related these issues are.

What's messed up about it? You need to describe the symptoms before we can prescribe the cure.

FPS skipping from 300 to 30 and back
I asked a while ago and they said it was vsync
