With the addition of Stencils in version 0.8.0 I had a go at revisualizing portal, but in the second dimension.
The controls:
WASD -> Move || Mouse -> Aim || Left Mouse -> Place Red Portal || Right Mouse -> Place Blue Portal
I haven't been able to figure out how to draw the portals recursively, it seems you cannot stencil within a stencil.
Feel free to unzip and tinker with the code.

So how do you get 0.8? Without building it yourself?

If you're on a mac:
If you're windows or linux you'll have to ask someone else for a build.

I broke it!

I stood at the exact portal position and looked around for a bit.

Wow, that's awesome. I didn't even know about stencils. What exactly are they?

Please, some non-broken screenshots here, for the not-so-cool crowd.

Sometimes, they're called image masks, I think.

Want to try, but it seems the only way to run 0.8 on Linux so far is to compile myself. Annoying.
Why do people build stuff for 0.8 when it's not even finished? I guess it's good that bugs are found and ironed out, but still...
