I recently found these articles. They describe various game design errors and critical annoyances (taken from real, often professional, games) and suggest solutions / improvements. So basically, it's a big, semi-humorous list of what not to do with your game. It's a good read.

i like the configurable controls and bad implemenations of configuration ones, because it's annoying when a game won't let you assign the same key to two mutually-exclusive functions
