Re: Fonts in LOVE (VERY big problem)
Personally, I'd just take the performance hit and use True Type. That way you don't have to do anything extra when 0.8 is released either, provided the syntax is the same. I'd just hang in and wait it out.
Do you recognise when the world won't stop for you? Or when the days don't care what you've got to do? When the weight's too tough to lift up, what do you? Don't let them choose for you, that's on you.
Re: Fonts in LOVE (VERY big problem)
I have already made a good bitmap font and would like to use it. This is russian font.
But to use it looks like I will have to patch LOVE.

I didn't mention that for several reasons.kikito wrote:Why not just render the font as a bitmap with several resolutions? Or else, render it with the highest resolution used, and scale down (I assume this will give less visual artifacts than scaling up)
This is one of them.Lafolie wrote:Personally, I'd just take the performance hit and use True Type. That way you don't have to do anything extra when 0.8 is released either, provided the syntax is the same. I'd just hang in and wait it out.
That looks like hell to use. I think you'd need to specify the bounding box for each letter separately, if you want to use that as-is.RPG wrote:I have already made a good bitmap font and would like to use it.

Thit program generaes all rectangles coordinates. Look:

Re: Fonts in LOVE (VERY big problem)
There's also no space between the characters so you'd get a bit of bleed from the surrounding pixels, I think.

Re: Fonts in LOVE (VERY big problem)
Maybe, but I dont think so. You can increase space between characters.
Re: Fonts in LOVE (VERY big problem)
It depends on the way everything is rendered I suppose. No idea if this phenomena occurs in Love. I'd leave some space in-between the characters just in case.

In theory you shouldn't get any bleed if the coordinates are pixel perfect; that is unless for some strange reason half a pixel is used.

Re: Fonts in LOVE (VERY big problem)
If you scaled it whatsoever, the nearest neighbor scaling algorithm would kick in, causing bleed. Always give yourself a pixel of space on each side!
Earliest Love2D supporter who can't Love anymore. Let me disable pixel shaders if I don't use them, dammit!

Also I can't understand that:
Why russian characters aren't in center on the button? This is NOT ttf font.
