Prototype: One Turn Empire - A Fast-Paced Roguelite 4X

Post by SiENcE »

I'm developing a little strategy game prototype called "One Turn Empire" that combines roguelike progression with 4X mechanics on a hex-based map.

Each game takes place on a hex grid where players compete against an AI opponent for territory control.

The game is built with a focus on tight, replayable gameplay loops. Each run teaches you something new about optimal strategies, while the legacy system ensures your dynasty grows stronger over time.

Would love to hear your thoughts and feedback! What other features would you like to see in a game like this?

I just gave this a go and found it entertaining. Not entirely understanding it but will with practice. Cool that it works on my Android phone.

Is it love2d? Is it easy to make for browser?
Last project:

A card game that brings sword fighting to life.
Current project:
pen and paper gridiron. Build a team then watch simulated matches: https://togfox.itch.io/pad-and-pencil-gridiron

Yep it's love2d using love-web-builder.

Is the aspect ratio ok?

Hey SiENcE! Thank you again for compiling the love runtime for Caanoo. I'm using your port on my GP2X and runs great!
I tried to play your game and i'm dying the whole time. How do i build the buildings? And how do i make new units? The ai is so strong, i get erased just after few turns. Maybe i'm just dumb? ^^"

I played it as well, the UX needs some polishing. It took me like 40 moves to understand that I can build some building by holding down right mouse button... Then it was not clear whether there is some bonus on buildings barracks e.g. on "gold" (g) hexagon etc.

Anyway, good prototype! It just needs some more polishing and maybe short tutorial or an info screen. It is already fun to play.

Thanks for playing! Tip, read the text below the game :-D! Another tip: use "influence actions"!

User Interface
Controls
- Tap or Left-click: Select units, perform actions
- Tap/Click & hold: Open building menu
- DoubleTap or Right-click: Open influence action menu
- Skip button: End turn without action

Yes, the user interface is just a placeholder, but it's enough to test minimalistic visualization types.

If you're playing on a phone or tablet, you'll need to “touch+hold” to open the building menu.

For any bonus info... please read the text below the game :-).

But first, thanks for the feedback!

By the way, I recently updated the game so that you can now play PvP or let the AI play both sided :awesome: (I use this for balancing).

cheers
